Number Portability and Port-Out Policy
Effective June 1, 2026
This policy describes requests to transfer telephone numbers to or from MultiTEL. Number portability is governed by applicable law, numbering rules, technical feasibility, valid authorization, accurate records, and cooperation among the gaining and losing providers. Nothing in this policy limits a portability right that applicable law makes non-waivable.
1. Number assignments
Telephone numbers are assigned for use with Services and are not sold. Rights in numbering resources remain subject to law, numbering administrators, and underlying carriers. The account holder, subscriber, customer of record, and party authorized to port a number depend on the actual service relationship and applicable records; MultiTEL is not categorically the customer of record for every number.
2. Direct retail subscribers
For a number assigned directly to an eligible Personal/Consumer or Business subscriber, MultiTEL will process a valid port request in accordance with applicable portability rules. The subscriber must provide the gaining provider with accurate account information and any required authorization or passcode. A balance, contractual obligation, or early-termination charge may remain due, but will not be used to block a port where law prohibits that practice.
3. Business and multi-user accounts
For business, PBX, multi-number, or multi-user accounts, MultiTEL may verify that the person requesting records or authorizing a port has authority for the affected numbers. A partial port can affect routing, features, emergency-service records, directory listings, messaging registrations, and remaining numbers. The Customer is responsible for coordinating those changes.
4. Communications providers and resellers
When MultiTEL's direct Customer is a communications provider or reseller, that Customer generally administers its downstream subscriber relationship and port authorization. MultiTEL may require the provider/reseller to submit the request, confirm authority, supply required records, and coordinate with the underlying carrier. MultiTEL will not knowingly obstruct a lawful downstream port, but may be unable to act on a request that bypasses the provider/reseller or lacks sufficient information to identify the service relationship.
5. Validation, fraud, and unauthorized requests
MultiTEL may authenticate a request and use account numbers, passcodes, service addresses, letters of authorization, billing records, identity verification, fraud signals, or other information permitted by applicable rules. MultiTEL may pause, reject, or escalate a request reasonably suspected to be unauthorized, fraudulent, inaccurate, duplicative, or inconsistent with a pending dispute or security hold, subject to legally required timelines and procedures.
No automatic $300 charge applies merely because a port is disputed or unauthorized. A Customer remains responsible for charges expressly agreed to, actual nonrecoverable third-party costs, fraud losses, or remedies permitted by law and the Terms.
6. Timing and service continuity
Do not cancel existing service until the port is confirmed complete. Port timing depends on whether a request is simple or complex, the number type and country, data accuracy, requested due date, carrier response, and regulatory requirements. MultiTEL does not guarantee completion by a requested date unless a written service order expressly provides otherwise.
7. Assistance
Porting questions may be sent to porting@multitel.net. Include the account identifier, affected numbers, gaining or losing provider, requested date, and request status, but do not email passwords or unnecessary identity documents.
